Establishment of the Resettlement Policy Framework of the Strategic Cities Development Project

- The social management framework designed to grant relief to the people affected due to the acquisition of their lands for the strategic cities development project implemented under the World Bank financial aid, has been developed paying special attention on the relevant geographical, economic, social and cultural factors. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to make the Resettlement Policy Framework so developed, applicable in granting compensation to the people who will be affected due to the development activities carried out in the areas where the Strategic Cities Development Project is implemented, was approved by the Cabinet.
