The implementation of the Second Integrated Road Investment Program
- The Phase I of the Integrated Road Investment Program initiated in the year 2014 with the objective of building up a bettter connectivity between rural communities and the vital socio‑economic Centres, is being implemented in the Southern, Central, Sabaragamuwa, North Western and North Central Provinces and in the district of Kalutara of the Western Province. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister, in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, to implement the Phase II of the Integrated Road Investment Program which is to be implemented, with the target of upgrading and maintaining about 3,400 km of rural access roads and around 340 km of national roads in the Northern, Eastern, Uva and Western Provinces, and to conduct loan negotiation to obtain financing to implement the Second integrated road investment programme and to enter into a loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank, was approved by the Cabinet.
