Raising of funds for purchasing of 09 Nos. Diesel Multiple Units to the Sri Lanka Railway Department

- Approval of the Cabinet has been granted to procure 12 Locomotives and 09 Diesel Multiple Units to improve the performance of the train service of the upcountry railway line by the Department of Sri Lanka Railways. The cost of the project to procure 09 Diesel Multiple Units has been estimated at US$ 93.86 million. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, to enter into loan agreements with the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited and the Hatton National Bank, in order to seek funds required for the purpose, was approved by the Cabinet.
