Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Mutual Cooperation in Shipping Business between the Ceylon Shipping Corporation and the Bangladesh National Shipping Corporation

- A Shipping Service Agreement has been signed between the Republic of Bangladesh and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in the year 2011 and according to the Agreement the parties of the relevant two countries have agreed to undertake a joint study on all options of maritime connectivity between the two countries and for that matter to launch a Joint Study Group. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Samarasinghe, the Minister of Ports and Shipping, to sign the MoU on Mutual Cooperation in shipping business drafted by the joint group after a series of meetings, during the forthcoming State Visit of H.E. the President to Bangladesh, was approved by the Cabinet.
