Payment of the membership fee for the International Convention on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture

- The Cabinet has already granted approval to obtain the membership of this convention for Sri Lanka which has a membership of 128 countries. By entering into this convention, Sri Lanka will gain the opportunity for free access to the food production, agricultural research and development process under the convention, free of charge. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Duminda Dissanayake, the Minister of Agriculture, for the payment of the contribution due to the convention for the years 2016 and 2017 on behalf of Sri Lanka, was approved by the Cabinet.
