Press briefing of Cabinet Decision taken on 2017-07-11

Hosting of the 6th SAARC Health Ministers Conference on the 27th up to 29th of July, 2017 in Colombo, Sri Lanka

- The conference of the Health Ministers of the member states of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) is scheduled to be held on the 27th up to 29th of July 2017 in Colombo. At this conference, it will be possible after discussion on common challenges faced by the countries of the SAARC region to reach consensus on measures to be adopted in this regard. Concurrent to the above conference, the meetings of the Health Secretaries, the Technological Committee and the SAARC Expert Groups will be held on the 27th and 28th of July 2017. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, for Sri Lanka to host the conference, was approved by the Cabinet.
