Empowerment of District Secretaries to respond immediately at disaster situations

- Considering the proposal made by Hon. Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, the Minister of Disaster Management, the Cabinet decided to grant approval as a matter of National Policy, to empower District Secretaries to secure the support of Divisional Secretaries, other officers attached to other Ministries serving in those offices and other relevant institutions to implement all relief measures more efficiently and effectively including rescue operations for saving the victims of sudden disasters and providing expeditious relief and to incur the required expenditure to carry out the essential activities efficiently and independently.
