Acquisition of Government vehicles on Operating Lease Basis

- The Sri Lanka Police needs 1,050 vehicles constituting of 800 Motor Cycles and 250 Land cruisers for its use. According to the existing market prices a sum of Rs.4.5 billion is required for the purpose. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, to obtain these vehicles under the operating lease basis instead of the general financing lease basis, taking into consideration the benefit of reducing the risk to be borne by the state and the advantage of the significant reduction in the loan amount to the government, was approved by the Cabinet.
