Renewal of Acquisition and Cross-servicing Agreement signed between the Ministry of Defence of Sri Lanka and the Department of Defence of the United States of America

- An Agreement has been signed between the Defence Department of the United States of America and the Defence Services of Sri Lanka to exchange supplies and services at times of need, to train the service personnel and to provide humanitarian support during disaster situations, on the 05th of March 2007, valid for a period of 10 years and by now the period of validation has elapsed. Negotiations have been conducted in this regard and both the parties have agreed to further renew the Agreement. In this regard, H.E. the President, Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of Defence, made the Cabinet aware of the fact that the said agreement is scheduled to be signed between the two countries for the purpose of the further validation of the agreement, considering the global security situations, the need for further continuation of the international relationships positively and to create an opportunity for the promotion of new technological, training and development opportunities,
