Construction of the National Stroke Centre at the Colombo East Base Hospital, Mulleriyawa
- Stroke is a leading cause for adult disabilities and it is recoverable withe proper treatment and rehabilitation facilities. At present, it is only at the Ragama Rehabilitation Hospital that modern facilities are available for treatment of strokes. Therefore, it has been proposed to establish the National Stroke Unit at Colombo East Base Hospital, Mulleriyawa for the improvement of treatment facilities of stroke patients.

National Competitive Bids have been invited to select a suitable contractor for the construction of this unit and in response 09 bidders have presented their bids. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to award the relevant contract to M/s R.N. Constructions (Pvt.) Ltd., the lowest evaluated substantially responsive bidder in accordance with the recommendations of the Technical Evaluation Committee which evaluated the bids and the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
