The Early Childhood Development Standards to be declared as 'National Standards for Early Childhood Development' - The child, during the period of 3 to 5 years of age while getting accustomed to the formal pre-school life and in association with the pre‑school prepares for receiving the fundamentals of education. Presently, as the pre‑school teachers design their activity plans according to various subject matters, it has become essential to introduce correct standards. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Mrs.) Chandrani Bandara, the Minister of Women and Child Affairs, to declare the Early Childhood Development Standards as 'National Standards for Early Childhood Development' compiled by the Children's Secretariat and reviewed by a Committee which comprised of the relevant Ministries and the representatives of all Provincial Councils and to activate such standards with the collaboration of the Provincial Councils, Local Government Institutions and the District and Divisional Secretariats, was approved by the Cabinet. |
