Development of the Kottawa-Pinhena road, as the main access Road leading to the Homagama-Pitipana Technological City

- The technological city under the Megapolis Development Plan is to be built to cover the areas of Malabe, Kottawa, Homagama, Athurugiriya and Kaduwela. Accordingly, 200 acres of land situated at Pitipana, Homagama has been set a part for the establishment of the Information Technology and other Technological Faculties affiliated to State Sector Universities. Concurrent to the development activities, widening and development of the access road network for providing convenient access to the new zone has been identified as an urgent need.

Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Patali Champika Ranawaka, the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development, to develop the Kottawa - Pinhena Road coming under the purview of the Road Development Authority and identified as a road to be developed expeditiously, utilizing the funds set a part for the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development, was approved by the Cabinet.
