Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of India and the Government of Sri Lanka for the Most Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha Nahimigama Project

- A project for the development of Elapathagama in the Anuradhapura District initiated by the late most Venerable Maduluwawe Sobhitha Thero has been commenced under the patronage of the Hon. Speaker and the Government of India has expressed its willingness to provide a grant of Rs.296.50 million for the purpose. Under this programme, development activities pertaining to the construction of houses for the 153 families living in the village, a multipurpose building, a Bhikku 'Avasa' and a 'Dana' hall, modernizing of the library, a water supply facility and the construction of a rural reservoir are to be undertaken. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Sajith Premadasa, the Minister of Housing and Construction, to sign the MoU for the implementation of the said project, was approved by the Cabinet.
