The Sri Lanka Technological University

- The Sri Lanka Technological University established by the Sri Lanka Telecom PLC by utilizing its funds, with the objective of fulfilling the need of an Industry Academic Partnership, has been awarded the Degree Awarding Status by the Ministry of Higher Education and Highways in the year 2016. This University has been established in a 36 acre land of the Satellite Station of the Sri Lanka Telecom situated in Padukka. The Cabinet noted the facts presented to the Cabinet by Hon. Harin Fernando, the Minister of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure, to the effect that the University is due to introduce a 4 year Engineering Degree Programmes to the students who qualify following the Technological Stream at the Advanced Level Examination from the year 2017, that the the University has entered into student transfer Agreements with the Lancaster University in UK and the Deakin University in Australia and that discussions are underway for similar partnerships with Georgia Tech University and the Texas Tech University in USA and the Lincoln University in New Zeland and that a Post Graduate Research Unit for fostering industry sponsored research will also be established in the University,
