Abolition of the Import Control Fee of 1% of CIF value on import of tea for re-export
- The budget proposals of 2017 has proposed to abolish the import control fee of 1% of CIF value on import of tea for re-export. Accordingly, taking into consideration the joint proposal made by Hon. Navin Dissanayake, the Minister of Plantation Industries and Hon. Malik Samarawickrama, the Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade, the Cabinet granted approval to abolish the said import control fee and amend it by removing the Item of Serial No.46 of Schedule 1 in the Regulations published in the Gazette Extraordinary Notification No.1953/28 of 2016-02-11 and decided that a permit charge of Rs.1,000/- be levied for every permit issued, for import of tea for re-export.
