'Divi Udana' Programme for Interest Subsidy Loan Schemes - 2017

- The Budget Proposal of 2017 proposed to implement loan schemes at concessionary interest rates with the aim of improving the agriculture sector, and encouraging the production economy as well as the social welfare of the country. Accordingly, measures have been taken to implement 08 loan schemes at concessionary interest rates. The Cabinet noted the facts presented to the Cabinet by Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, the Minister of Finance and Mass Media, to the effect that the whole programme which has been named as the 'Divi Udana' Interest Subsidy Loan Schemes Programme has been implemented since 31st March 2017, that the Ministry of Finance and Mass Media has entered into agreements for the successful implementation of the programme through the Commercial Banks and that measures have been taken to conduct awareness programmes to educate the general public of the subsidy loan schemes programme, through both the printed and electronic media.
