Revision of Annual Bus Fares - 2017

- The National Transport Commission has been vested with the authority of the revision of bus fares in consultation with the Bus Operators' Associations and all stakeholders. The proposals pertaining to the revision of bus fares for the year 2017 has been prepared based on the data published by the Central Bank and taking into consideration the changes pertaining to the cost variable to the bus operating cost.

Accordingly, with due consideration to the proposal made by the National Transport Commission, the proposal made by Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation to increase the existing bus fares by 6.28% with effect from 01st July 2017 and to revise the present minimum bus fare of Rs.9/- to be Rs.10/-, was approved by the Cabinet.
