Strengthening of the National Disaster Relief Service Centre

- Further strengthening of the National Disaster Relief Service Centre (NDRSC) is imperative to respond immediately to situations emerging as a result of natural disasters as well as human activity to be faced continuously and also to carry out efficiently the relief services and re-establishment activities. For this purpose, the Disaster Relief Service Mechanism in the National, District and Divisional Level should be strengthened by taking measures to fill the vacancies in the Head Office, District and Divisional Offices of the NDRSC and to create new posts where necessary. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, the Minister of Disaster Management to fill the vacancies in the National Disaster Relief Service Centre immediately, to assign a Disaster Relief Officer to every Divisional Secretary's Division and to create new posts to cover essential services, was approved by the Cabinet.
