Granting of Scholarships by the Japanese Government for Human Resources Development

- The Government of Japan introduced the Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resources Development Scholarship Programme in Sri Lanka in the year 2010 with the objective of providing opportunities to the executive level public sector officers to follow Post Graduate studies in the recognized universities of Japan. The Government of Japan has agreed to continue the programme which is scheduled to be completed by this year for a further period of four years. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Niroshan Perera, the Acting Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs to authorize the Secretary to the Treasury to sign the Exchange of Notes and the two Grant Agreements with the Japan International Cooperation Agency to obtain a grant of 358 million of Japanese Yen, was approved by the Cabinet.
