Development of Nurses Training Schools

- Presently, there are about 34000 Nursing Officers serving in the Government Hospitals around the island. The modernization of the Nurses Training Schools is a timely need and it has also been found that the educational and administrative buildings of 14 Nurses Training Schools and in addition, the quarters of certain Training Schools as well, have to be constructed expeditiously.

Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine to commence the construction work of the educational and administrative buildings of the Nurses Training Schools in Galle, Kandy and Anuradhapura, expeditiously, utilizing the provision of Rs.200 million set apart for the year 2017, was approved by the Cabinet.
