Construction of a New two storey laboratory building for the Coconut Research Institute

- The need for the development of the laboratory facilities of the Coconut Research Institute to the level of international standards has arisen in order to effectively contribute, to the development of the coconut industry of Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Navin Disanayake, the Minister of Plantation Industries, to construct a two storey building at an estimated cost of Rs.47 million for the establishment of a state of the art laboratory for the Coconut Research Institute of Sri Lanka, and out of which Rs.23 million to be obtained from the Consolidated Fund and the balance of Rs.24 million to be incurred from the earnings of the Sri Lanka Coconut Research Institute, was approved by the Cabinet.
