Development of the Sugathadasa National Sports Complex

- The Sugathadasa National Sports Complex provides sports infrastructure facilities for sports competitions at both the National and International level. This is governed by the Sugathadasa National Sports Complex Authority and certain measures have been taken periodically for the renovation of the sports complex which has been constructed about 25 years ago. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara, the Minister of Sports to carry out the implementation of the following programmes to develop the complex more comprehensively, was approved by the Cabinet:

* Installation of a Solar Power Generation System;

* Repairing of the electricity supply wire system and the other equipment of the Flood Light Towers which provides electricity for the out door stadium; and

* Modification of the Light system and the Sound System in the main stadium.
