Regulation of the import of Concrete Pump Trucks
- The construction sector represents the second largest industrial segment in Sri Lanka and by facilitating the construction industry the country can derive a considerable amount of economic and social benefits. As such, the regulations relevant to the import of concrete pump trucks necessary for construction activities have been amended and in the import of such machines two new combined classification code numbers have been introduced for the Concrete Pump Trucks which are not more than 10 years old and those which are more than 10 years old. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Malik Samarawickrama, the Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade, to present the Gazette Extraordinary Notification No.2019/24 of 2017-05-19 published under the Import and Export Control Act, No.01 of 1969 incorporating the importation of Concrete Pump Trucks which are more than 10 years old in the list of Items for which Import licenses should be obtained, to the Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
