Obtaining a loan facility of US$ 200 million from the Government of Pakistan

- The Government of Pakistan has agreed to provide a loan facility of US$ 200 million to finance the Priority Development Projects in Sri Lanka. This loan facility will be utilized for the construction of houses, the import of farm animals necessary for enhancing livestock activities, the import of machinery required for agriculture and dairy industry, and for the development of the Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) etc. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, the then Minister of Finance, to enter into the relevant Agreement with the Government of Pakistan, was approved by the Cabinet.
