Incidents hampering the peaceful co-existence among ethnic communities in the country

- The attention of the Cabinet was focused on incidents hampering the peaceful co-existence among the ethnic communities and some provocative behaviour of certain parties which had taken place recently in several places of the country. The Cabinet noted the necessity of taking relevant appropriate measures to ensure that recurrence of such incidents and behaviour do not occur in the future. Accordingly, the Cabinet decided as follows:

(i) to direct the law enforcement authorities to take legal action in accordance with the legal provision against those who are responsible for incidents hampering the peaceful co-existence among communities; and

(ii) to direct the Inspector General of Police to instruct the Officers-In-Charge of all Police Stations to ensure that recurrence of such incidents do not take place within their area of authority.
