Establishment of a Doppler Weather Radar Network in Sri Lanka

- The Government of Japan has agreed to provide a grant assistance of Japanese Yen 2,503 million (Approximately Rs.3,422 million) through the Japan International Cooperation Agency for the establishment of a Doppler Weather Radar Network in Sri Lanka to detect hazardous meteorological phenomena and enable the making of accurate forecasts to the people. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, to sign the exchange of notes and to enter into a Grant Agreement with the Government of Japan, was approved by the Cabinet.
