Memorandum of Understanding between Sri Lanka and Netherlands for providing security to merchant vessels flying the flag of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

- The Kingdom of Netherlands has made a request for the use of services of the Sri Lanka Navy by the Royal Netherlands Navy Protection Detachment deployed in the Indian Ocean off the cost of Somalia on board merchant vessels flying the flag of the Kingdom of Netherlands on a payment basis. Accordingly, the proposal made by H.E. the President, Maithripala Sirisena, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Defence of the Government of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in accordance with the international laws and the existing laws governing each country to provide the required services, was approved by the Cabinet.
