Buduputh Mapiya Upahara Housing Programme
- It has been proposed to implement a project named Buduputh Mapiya Upahara Housing Programme to coincide with the United Nations Vesak Celebrations - 2017 to be held in Sri Lanka in order to build houses for the parents and the members of the families of Buddhist Bhikkus who have entered into priesthood. Accordingly, the joint proposals made by Hon. Sajith Premadasa, the Minister of Housing and Construction and Hon. Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, the Minister of Buddhasasana, to identify the recipient families in accordance with the recommendations of the Department of Buddhist Affairs and the Pradeshiya Shasanarakshaka Bala Mandala, having identified the lands necessary to provide financial aid subject to a maximum of Rs.500,000 per house of a floor area of 500 sq.ft., to construct 500 houses island-wide for such 500 beneficiary families, was approved by the Cabinet.
