The Project for provision of Solar Power Systems for Public Institutions under the Programme of 'Sooryabala Sangraamaya'

- A sum of Rs.300 million has been allocated in the Budget proposals of 2017 to transform the buildings where public institutions are housed into green energy sources. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy to install solar panels in selected Government Hospitals in all districts utilizing 75% of the funds and to install solar panels under the cost distribution basis in the selected Government institutions utilizing the balance 25%, under the first phase of this programme, was approved by the Cabinet.
