Re-location of Bakamoona Bus Stand for a qualitative development of the transport services

- Concurrent to the Government programme of the development of bus stands in the main towns and the suburban towns of the Island for the convenience of passengers, it is proposed to build a new bus stand in the Bakamoona town under the Polonnaruwa district development programme known as Rajarata Navodaya. The Bakamoona Pradeshiya Sabawa has agreed to provide a plot of land for the purpose and it is proposed to build a bus stand with facilities for parking seven buses at one and the same time. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, to construct the Bakamoona bus stand at an estimated cost of a sum of Rs.50 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
