The Buddhist Centre proposed to be constructed at Kahapola in Piliyandala
- The Cabinet approval has been granted to implement a project to produce a replication of the Sakya Kingdom similar to the one in India, as a joint venture with the Ministry of Buddhasasana and the Light of Asia Foundation concurrently with the International Vesak Day Commemoration of 2017. In this respect, the Light of Asia Foundation will bear a sum of Rs.500 million and it has been planned to complete the project, concurrently with the International Vesak Day Commemoration ceremony. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, the Minister of Buddhasasana to enter into an Agreement between the Light of Asia Foundation and the Ministry of Buddhasasana, for the implementation of the project, was approved by the Cabinet.
