Implementation of the 'Virusumithuru Housing Project' for the families of the war heroes

- The Government has decided to implement the project named Virusumithuru where 3650 housing units are to be constructed within the next four (04) years with a view to providing a solution to the housing problem of the families of heroes of the Three Armed Forces, the Police and the Civil Security Force who scarified their lives and who suffered disabilities. Under this project, it is expected to construct 1950 new housing units and to complete the work of the 1700 housing units which are partially constructed and the beneficiaries concerned will be identified by the Ranaviru Seva Authority. In this context, it is proposed to provide a sum of Rs.1.2 million for a new house and building material valued at Rs.500,000/- for a partially constructed house and the required contribution of labour will be provided by the three Armed Forces and the Police. Accordingly, the joint proposal made by Maithripala Sirisena, H.E. the President and Hon. Sajith Premadasa, the Minister of Housing and Construction for implementation of this project, within the period from 2017 to 2020 as a joint venture of the National Housing Development Authority and the Ranaviri Seva Authority, was approved by the Cabinet.
