Establishment of a new Vocational Training Centre at Panadura
- The number of youth dropping out of schools after the G.C.E. (O/L) and G.C.E. (A/L) examinations, in the Kalutara District annually, is approximately 9,000. However, it has been identified that the student intake capacity of the Vocational Training Centres belonging to the National Vocational Training Authority in the Kalutara District is only 1,785. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Samarasinghe, the Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training, to construct a new Vocational Training Centre in Panadura at an estimated cost of Rs.370 million within two (02) years, with a view to increasing the intake of youth of the Kalutara District to Government Vocational Centres, was approved by the Cabinet.
