Purchasing of a land for the future development activities of the University of Sri Jayawardenapura

- The University of Sri Jayawardenapura consists of seven (07) faculties and the total number of students, at present, is around 11,557. Attention has been focused on purchasing of buildings and lands in close proximity to the University to address the needs of the students increasing annually. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, the Minister of Higher Education and Highways, to purchase a land in extent of 377.5 perches, situated close to the University belonging to a private party, for a sum of Rs.481.3 million utilizing part of the earnings of the University and as well as Government funds, was approved by the Cabinet.
