Construction of Polonnaruwa Postal Complex, Poojapitiya Post Office and Batticaloa Postal Complex

- Under the Polonnaruwa new town development plan, lands and few buildings belonging to the Postal Department are to be acquired by the Urban Development Authority and in place of same a new postal complex is proposed to be constructed in the Kaduruwela town. Further, it has been found that a new 06 storey building should be constructed for the dilapidated postal complex existing in Batticaloa. Poojapitiya Post Office delivers letters covering an area of 30 square kilometers in extent and fundamental preparatory activities for the construction of a new office building for Poojapitiya has commenced. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. M.H.A Haleem, the Minister of Posts, Postal and Muslim Religious Affairs to obtain provisions to construct new buildings for the Polonnaruwa and Batticaloa postal complexes and to obtain the balance provisions required to proceed with the construction work of the Poojapitiya Postal Complex from the General Treasury, was approved by the complex.
