Establishment of a National Vocational Training Institute at Hingurakgoda

- The annual school dropouts in the Polonnaruwa District is around 3,225 and the capacity in the existing public sector training centres available at present, in the district are not adequate to provide them with vocational training. Therefore, the joint proposal made by Maithripala Sirisena, H.E. the President and Hon. Mahinda Samarasinghe, the Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training to establish a National Vocational Training Centre at Hingurakkgoda with the loan assistance provided by the Government of Netherlands concurrently with the Polonnaruwa Integrated Development Programme to enable the youth to undergo a qualitative technical and vocational education and training leading to productive employment, was approved by the Cabinet.
