Construction of the Accommodation Building and the Administration Building of the National Police Academy, Katana
- The 'Police Training School, Katana' established with the objective of enhancing the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the police personnel was subsequently transformed into a 'National Police Academy'. The development of this academy established within a 39 acre land to a standard similar to that of International Police Academies, is a timely need. Accordingly, it is imperative that accommodation facilities, administrative, lecture halls, library, welfare and recreational facilities are provided in the academy for 450 police personnel to be trained simultaneously. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Sagala Ratnayaka, the Minister of Law & Order and Southern Development to implement the project for the construction of the Accommodation Building and the Administration Building of the National Police Academy, Katana at an estimated cost of Rs.674.26 million within the Medium Term Budgetary Framework of 2017 to 2019 as a preliminary step of the development activity, was approved by the Cabinet.
