Construction of Ayurveda Hospitals and the Development of their Infrastructure
- The Cabinet has granted approval in the year 2014 for the construction of a 10 storyed building for the Yakkala Ayurveda Hospital, a Siddha Medical Teaching Hospital in Koonespuri of Trincomalee, a Ward Complex for the District Ayurveda Hospital, Manchanthuduwai and a two storyed building for the Kaithadi Ayurveda Hospital in the Jaffna District, for expediting the essential infrastructure facilities for the promotion of the Indigenous System of Medicine. In the same way, Cabinet approval has also been received on 2016-07-13 to construct a Traditional Ayurveda Hospital in the Wedagama village in the Gampaha District. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine to obtain the consultancy services from the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB) in respect of the project which has been unduly delayed to construct it with a minimum cost and a high standard in a more productive manner and to hand over the construction activities of the project to the State Engineering Corporation and commence the work expeditiously, was approved by the Cabinet.
