Making it compulsory to establish letterboxes in the Ground Floor of the Housing Complexes to be constructed to provide the residents there with postal facilities
- The postmen have to face various practical problems when distributing letters and mail items to the residents of the multi-storey housing complexes and as a result, a situation has arisen where they cannot perform their duties in the best of manner. Accordingly, with the objective of providing a solution to the issue, the proposal made by Hon. M.H.A. Haleem, the Minister of Posts, Postal Services and Muslim Religious Affairs, to inform the Ministries concerned to provide instructions to the Urban Development Authority and the relevant Provincial Institutions to establish letter boxes separately for each house under the house holders' list number when constructing multi-story housing complexes, to design a separate area newly for letter boxes in the ground floor of the housing complexes already constructed, to hand over the keys of the letter boxes where the number of the particular house is carved to the relevant house owners and take action as proposed above, when issuing permits for the construction of buildings, was approved by the Cabinet.
