Development of the land at Peliyagoda owned by the State Engineering Corporation of Sri Lanka

- The State Engineering Corporation of Sri Lanka owns a land in extent of 14.5 acres, facing the Negombo-Colombo main highway and the access road to the Katunayake-Colombo Expressway and considering its extent and the location, it has been observed that it could be utilized for a large scale development activity. There is a high potential for utilizing the land especially, for a mixed development project with commercial and residential facilities. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Sajith Premadasa, the Minister of Housing and Construction, to identify viable project proposals for productive development to be implemented in the above land through the State Engineering Corporation of Sri Lanka, to appoint a Cabinet Appointed Negotiation Committee to monitor the process, to evaluate and consider the proposals and to appoint a Project Committee comprising of the representatives of the relevant institutions to assist the said Negotiation Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
