Strengthening medical supply facilities in Hospitals and Regional Medical Supply Divisions
- The Medical Supplies Division of the Ministry of Health is the central organization responsible for providing all pharmaceuticals, surgical items, laboratory items, radioactive items and printed material. As such, considering the importance of providing qualitative medical supplies to patients in a timely manner, it has been proposed to implement the two (02) projects namely, the improvement of store facilities for pharmaceuticals in hospitals and the expansion of the Medical Supply Management Information System up to the divisional hospitals. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine to implement the project for upgrading of drugs stores in 134 hospitals and 26 Regional Medical Supplies Divisions at an estimated cost of Rs.712 million and the project for expanding the Medical Supply Management Information System up to the divisional hospitals at an estimated cost of Rs.954 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
