Strengthening of the National Equipment and Machinery Organization (NEMO)

- Taking into consideration the recommendations made by the Minister of Housing and Construction and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Management for strengthening of the National Equipment and Machinery Organization (NEMO) the Cabinet at its meeting held on 2016‑08‑09 appointed an Officials' Committee to evaluate the capacity of the Institution. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Sajith Premadasa, the Minister of Housing and Construction for the award of contracts direct to the NEMO without inviting bids and to increase the present limit of Rs.25 million to a limit of Rs.50 million in respect of renting out equipment from the organization by the State Institutions, in accordance with the recommendations of the above Committee, was approved by the Cabinet.
