Construction of the Mannar Nadukuda Transmission Line under the Green Power Development & Energy Efficiency Improvement Investment Programme

- Asian Development Bank has granted a loan of US$ 166.6 Million under Tranche II of the Green Power Development & Energy Efficiency Improvement Investment Programme for strengthening the transmission network of the Ceylon Electricity Board. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, to award the contract for constructing the 30km Transmission Line from Mannar to Nadukuda as recommended by the Standing Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee utilizing the above loan, to the substantially responsive lowest bidder, the KEC International Limited, for a sum of Rs.1,379.9 Million, was approved by the Cabinet.
