Establishment of the Biotechnology Innovation Park
- The National Research and Development Framework has identified that research and industries based on 'biotechnology' which falls within the emerging technologies of the world, have to be promoted within the country. As such, a provision of Rs.100 Million have been set apart by the Budget proposals of 2017 and accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Susil Premajayantha, the Minister of Science, Technology and Research for the establishment of a Biotechnology Innovation Park, within the existing Nanotechnology and Science Park situated in Pitipana, Homagama with Public-Private Partnership collaboration, was approved by the Cabinet.
