Signing of the Concord of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) to be entered into at the Leaders' Summit

- A Summit of the Leaders of the Member States is scheduled to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia on 7th March, 2017, concurrent to the commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) which is implemented with the aim of sustainable and balanced development of the States around the Indian Maritime Zone. His Excellency the President Maithripala Sirisena, will represent Sri Lanka at this summit which takes place under the theme 'Strengthening Maritime Corporation for a Peaceful, Stable and Prosperous Indian Ocean'. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon.(Dr.) Harsha de Silva, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, to sign the Memorandum of Understanding to be entered into, anticipating the promotion of consultation and cooperation among the member states of this organization, was approved by the Cabinet
