Amendment to the Office of Missing Persons (Establishment, Administration and Discharge of Functions) Act, No. 14 of 2016

- The Office of Missing Persons (Establishment, Administration and Discharge of Functions) Act, No. 14 of 2016 was passed by the Parliament on the 23rd of August 2016. The Legal Draftsman drafted an amendment to section 11 of the Act by removing paragraph (a) of section 11 which empowered the office to enter into agreements as are necessary to carry out functions with a person or organization. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the Prime Minister, to publish the Amendment to the Office of Missing Persons (Establishment Administration and Discharge of Functions) Act, in the Government Gazette and present it in Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.
