Calling for Expressions of Intention and Project proposals in respect of the Kumbukkan Oya Reservoir Project

- Under the Kumbukkan Oya Reservoir Project, a reservoir with a capacity of 48 Million Cubic Meters will be constructed at the meeting point of the Buttala - Moneragala A4 Road and the Kumbukkan Oya. According to the feasibility study conducted, it has been confirmed that this project will supply water to 4,280 Ha. of new lands and 1,255 Ha. of existing lands and generate 16 Giga Watt hours of electricity annually and also provide water for drinking and industrial purposes. Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. Vijith Vijayamuni Zoysa, the Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management, to call for expressions of intention and project proposals with a view to identifying a suitable company which could implement this project utilizing foreign funds, was approved by the Cabinet.
