Leasing out the Railway reserves to State Institutions for public utility services

- Leasing out the lands of the Department of Railways which are not required immediately for the operation and development of the railway to a third party based on Government Valuation for a period not exceeding 05 years without any restrain to get them back when required, is carried out by the Railway Department. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, to charge according to the valuation only one nominal value of 1% of the lease rent imposed and the relevant administrative expenses only when leasing out such lands to the State Institutions for public utility services like laying water pipes and activities involved in the electricity projects, was approved by the Cabinet.
