Implementation of Programmes for the livelihood development and poverty alleviation of the fisher community
- A sum of Rs.1,200 Million, has been allocated to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development, for the year 2017, for the implementation of programmes pertaining to the enhancement of life standards and livelihood development of fisher community living in the hinterland and coastal areas and the construction of houses. As such, the proposal made by Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development, to implement 30 projects identified by the Ministry as a high priority requirement, utilizing this allocation, with the participation of the private sector as well, was approved by the Cabinet.
