Development of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka into a State-of- the-Art Hospital - The development of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka with a bed strength of 3,382 which can be regarded as the centre of excellence in the Sri Lankan Healthcare System, into a State-of-the-Art hospital following a long term development plan, is a timely need. The proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Rajitha Senaratne, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, to fulfil the following needs identified to be given priority as a part of the development process, was approved by the Cabinet. * Modernization of the old Victoria Building and the Bandaranaike Building with extensive facilities for the patients as well as the staff. * Modernization of the Doctors' Quarters at Barnes Place and the Nurses' Quarters at No.93. |
